Colloquia on ADR in the areas of Corporate, Insolvency and Bankruptcy Disputes

The Colloquia on ADR in the areas of Corporate, Insolvency and Bankruptcy Disputes was a tremendous success.

It was attended by lawyers, chartered accountants, company secretaries, bankers, industrialists and also members from various foreign conciliates.

The first session on “alternate dispute resolution in oppression and mismanagement disputes” was chaired by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Aravind Kumar, Judge, High Court of Karnataka. Hon’ble Mr. Ratakonda Murali, Judicial Member, National Company Law Tribunal, Bengaluru. Hon’ble Mr. K K Balu, Former Vice Chairman, Company Law Board, Chennai. Mr. A Murali, Advocate, J Sagar Associates. Mr. K Srinivasan Practicing Company Secretary and Mr. B C Thiruvengadam, Advocate, Arbitrator and Mediator, thiru & thiru.

The importance of arbitration and mediation in corporate disputes was emphasized by all the panelists. Hon’ble Mr. Ratakonda Murali urged the lawyers to take the initiative.

The second session on “alternate dispute resolution in banking and insolvency proceedings” was chaired by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Anand Byrareddy, Former Judge, High Court of Karnataka. Hon’ble Dr. Ashok Kumar Mishra, Technical Member, National Company Law Tribunal Bengaluru. Mr. Dhyan Chinnappa, Senior Counsel, Mr. T. K. Keshav Murthy, Former Chief General Manager, State Bank of India. Mr. Shivkumar, Advocate and Mediator and Col. O. P. Nehra – Industry representative.

Mr. T. K. Keshav Murthy, Former Chief General Manager, State Bank of India explained the problems faced by bank officials and the reasons for not coming forward to settle disputes fearing C.B.I. or vigilance enquiry.

Hon’ble Mr. Justice S. R. Bannurmath, former Chief Justice, High Court of Kerala and Former Chairperson Maharashtra State Human Rights Commission and Vice Chairman BIMACC Board of Governance gave the presidential address. More than 70 participants took part in this interesting event.

BIMACC also used this colloquia as a forum to congratulate the winners of the BIMACC NATIONAL ESSAY COMPETITION 2018 titled “Right to Justice and Institutional ADR Mechanisms”
